What super/exotic cars make you go "meh" when seen in the wild?

Saw one of these today. Thought to myself “those are some funny looking Corvette tail lights.”

Kinja'd!!!

“Oh that’s not a Vette it’s a 355... meh”

Conversely I get really excited when I see R8s. They’re not super common and pretty mundane compared to other exotics they’re competing with. But I always get excited when I see one.

Pretty much all modern ferraris.

NSX, I love them in pictures but, in real life the proportions are weird to me.

Because there will always be a need to say “I’m a Chinese university student and father didn’t give me enough money for a Ferrari.”

That’s been 90% of who I’ve seen driving them, at least.

They blend in really well in the wild. Convo went “hey check out the GTR” “where at?” *points* “I don’t see it... Ohh there it is. Neat”

A Maserati dealership opened up nearby so I’m always seeing Giblets out on test drives with dealer plates but never without. I wonder if they even have any GTs...

Not really a supercar, but seeing a Continental Flying Spur is a little less exciting than it used to be.

This.... They are a dime a dozen. Who cares anymore? Oh man you can buy a cheap Ferrari. How fucking cool. Why don tyou go and buy something with some class like a 308. As an actor once said,

“Memphis: Perhaps, Mmmm. But, you know, this is the one. Yes, yes yes... I saw three of these parked outside the local Starbucks this morning, which tells me only one thing. There’s too many self-Indulgent wieners in this city with too much bloody money! Now, if I was driving a 1967 275 GTB four-cam...

Roger the Car Salesman: You would not be a self-indulgent wiener, sir... You’d be a connoisseur.”

These cars have reached full self indulgent wiener status, yet every bro and guy who wants a Ferrari buys one. Why? Its not like you have a special car anymore. This is the Camary of the super car world. And honestly its quite a bore to look at.

Honestly, yeah.

Lol. They’ve done a few special editions and facelifts and stuff, but it doesn’t change the fact that the car is really old. It makes a decent noise and looks alright but I’m never actually interested when I see one, it’s always just an “oh ok.”

All of them. None of them are extreme rare where I live

Unless it’s a 918, P1, LaFerrari, Enzo or F1 it’s pretty meh.

This is an interesting question, because with me a lot of it is context. If I’m at a car show, I don’t really spend time looking at a standard 458, it’s a pretty “standard” car at most car shows I end up at, and there’s usually quite a few of them. But if I’m at a restaurant or anywhere else where I’m not expecting it, it becomes a lot cooler of a sighting I think. Interesting that you feel that way about a 355, it's kind of the opposite for me. As far as Ferraris go, the older it is, generally the more excited I am about it. I hardly ever see stuff like 308s, 328’s, 348’s, 355’s and etc. and so I’m a bit more excited when I see one. An added bonus is that the owners of those are generally more of the “enthusiast” type than someone who has a 458 (generally speaking of course, there’s exceptions on both ends).

You know you’re in Austin when........the Model S is basically a regular car. I like them, but they’re everywhere. Super common.

As for meh: new Bugatti Veyron special editions. Cool engineering exercise! It broke a record once! Aaaaand very few owners will ever use that car for that kind of speed. At this point, they’re kind of beating a dead horse until the next ludicrous supercar comes out, and the outgoing car isn’t even pretty to look at, IMHO.

I think the allure with the r8 is that it can be recognized as an exotic but is actually obtainable. Will I ever be able to afford a $2 million Bugatti or quart mil Aston? Nope. but with some proper planning am R8 can be had.

I get more exited by shitty old cars that you never see any more, for instance the two-tone brown slantback Seville near me. Though I enjoy hearing an R8, at least the V10. V8’s don’t really do much for me, with a few exceptions.

Most new Ferrari’s and McLarens, lots in SF. Not really many new or Lambos here so I enjoy seeing one. This is a Porsche heavy area, many variations of 911s, GT2/3s are nice but I don’t really look hard anymore. There is a Zonda and a How-are-ya as well as a purple Diablo, I look at those! FFs are pretty rare, the GT Ferraris are way more rare than a 458, so I enjoy a V12 GT car.

I think it’s in the awkward teen phase for me. It’s not new enough to be modern but it’s not old enough to be appreciated just for its age. But I’ll give you with the headlights up it has a great derpy “huehuehue face”

Maseratis, Porsches. Corvettes (I don’t consider them special, super, or exotic, bit some do). Bentleys, save for the rare Mulsanne or Speed variant. Veyrons (though I did bother taking a few dozen pictures of them at Bentley Gold Coast). Ferraris. Modern (post-VAG acquisition) Lamborghinis (and I haven’t bothered to train myself on the visual differences between Aventadors and Huracans). S-Classes and other German Luxor-barges.

However, I’m struck giddy at the sight of a Ford GT, any Mustang greater than a GT, Saleen S7s, Vipers (less so, they’re somewhat common, but I like the original GTS models a LOT), a modified classic Volvo (or an R model), Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaags greater than an X-Type or regular S-Type, and Aston Martins.

I'll damn near stop traffic to get a closer glimpse at any McLaren.
